In-depth Analysis of Thriller Opening - Mission impossible research- Neamh

Positioning- Shows that Phelps is sitting on a plane as the plane windows are shown in the background. This adds mystery to the scene as the audience doesn’t know where the plane is going or why.



 Lighting- Low key lighting inside the plane shows that it could be a long flight so perhaps they have been sleeping. Information is very limited.


 Acting- Focused and interested in what he is doing, implying that it is very important.


 Costume- Phelps is wearing a suit, suggesting that he is travelling on a business trip.




Hair/Makeup- His hair is short and neat showing that he must look smart as part of his profession.







Expression- Phelps acts very cool and calm even whilst the tape self destructs. This shows that he knows what he is doing and could be very dangerous.




Setting- The scene is set on a private jet suggesting wealth and an important company that he is a part of.

Props- High-tech props are used such as the video player and remote control. The cassette and cigarettes are also essential props for ensuring the message can be heard and destroyed with no evidence.
