There are quite a few similarities in Silent retreat and se7en's opening sequences. In se7en the shot types are similar and most them seem to be close up shots, the font editing and sound used is also different compared to the ones used in Silent retreat. In Silent retreat, there is a variety of shot types used, the actors faces are also shown unlike Se7en there are no faces shown. The font used is more still compared to the one of Se7en.
The isn't a lot of similarities except from the fact that the font used in both films are white and are usually on a dark background.
I think Silent retreat is more effective for a thriller genre compared to se7en because the backgrounds used when the titles are being presented seem more thriller like because they are in a way creepy and unusual.
